Subscriber Growth Calculator

Subscribers follow views at a fairly steady rate, usually 1 to 5 per 1,000 views. Enter where you are now and how many views you get a month to see the monthly gain, the date you reach your target, and what closing the gap with promotion would cost.
At 3 subscribers per 1,000 views, the 760 you still need takes about 253K views. Promoted at the worldwide rate of 0.60¢ a view, that is roughly $1,520 of advertising, on top of whatever your channel earns organically.
Most channels convert 1–5 subscribers per 1,000 views. Check yours in YouTube Studio under Audience.
How long 1,000 subscribers takes

|---|---|---|---|
| 5,000 | 100 mo | 67 mo | 40 mo |
| 10,000 | 50 mo | 34 mo | 20 mo |
| 20,000 | 25 mo | 17 mo | 10 mo |
| 50,000 | 10 mo | 7 mo | 4 mo |
| 100,000 | 5 mo | 4 mo | 2 mo |
Raising the rate beats raising the views
Doubling views doubles subscribers. Doubling conversion does the same thing without spending anything, and it compounds with every campaign afterwards. The three changes that move it most: a channel that obviously covers one subject, an end screen sending viewers to a second video rather than the channel page, and thumbnails a returning viewer recognises in a crowded feed.
Questions
How many subscribers should 1,000 views produce?+
Most channels convert between 1 and 5 subscribers per 1,000 views. Under 1 usually means the audience is poorly matched; above 5 is strong and worth scaling.
Where do I find my own conversion rate?+
YouTube Studio, Analytics, Audience. Divide new subscribers by views over the same period and multiply by 1,000.
How long does 1,000 subscribers take?+
At 20,000 views a month converting at 3 per 1,000, a channel gains about 60 a month, so reaching 1,000 from a standing start takes a little over a year. Raising views or conversion shortens it proportionally.
Does buying subscribers work?+
Purchased subscribers do not watch, which drags down the ratio between subscribers and views. That signal tells YouTube your content no longer satisfies the audience it already has, so recommendations tighten rather than widen.
What raises the conversion rate?+
Giving a viewer a reason to expect more of the same. A clear channel theme, an end screen pointing at a related video, and consistent thumbnails do more than asking for the subscribe in the video.
